Yuri Filippov, Biography

Yuri Filippov was born in 1927.

Yury Ivanovich Filippov studied at the Penza Art College from IS. Goryushkina-Sorokopudova and NK Krasnova.

His works are in the collections of the Samara Art Museum, the Penza Picture Gallery, many other museums in Russia, as well as abroad - in France, Germany, Canada, Israel, Turkey, Indonesia.

In the 1990s and 2000s, the artist worked on the characteristic type of landscape painting, where the image of the nature of Samara Luke filled with inner strength and beauty appears as an antipode of technological progress that destroys this beauty (“Moonlit Night in Zhiguli”, “Volga expanses”, “ “Molodetsky mound”, “From the height of the Sokolikh mountains”). The master refers to the genre of the historical landscape-painting (‘Samarskaya Volnitsa, Samara fortress, the sixteenth century’ and several variants of the monumental-festive canvas ‘Old Samara’, which is programmatic in Filippov’s work).
