Roman Podobedov, Biography

(1920 - 2003)

In 1939 he graduated from the Penza School of Arts named after K.A. Savitsky. Studied under I. Goryushkin-Sorokopudov. Since 1946 participated in exhibitions. Since 1951 has been a member of the Moscow Organization of the Artists’ Union. 

His personal exhibition was held in 1980 in Riga. He created a gallery of portraits of veterans of the Communist party, of the army and the Riga sea fleet as well as numerous images of V.I. Lenin. 

He was awarded a breastplate ‘For cultural patronage over the Armed Forces of the USSR’. Works by the artist are located in the Museum of Arts in Latvia, in regional museums in Tambov, Jurmala, in other museums.
