Leslie Johnson, Biography

Born in Wakefield, England Leslie arrived in Canada in 1972.

He has spent all his life growing and developing as an artist.

His elephant appeared in one of his school paintings when he was ten and then it disappeared and reappeared fifty years later in a lilac root of which he carved the elephant {first wood and then bronze}.

On his life journey Leslie has painted pictures and fabric incorporating painted fabric into recycled clothing. He also has pursued silkscreen printing, worked with woodturning making wooden bowls and is at present carving wood into walking sticks as well as painting pictures.

His art bears respectful witness to the cultures that helped give him his artistic voice.
